IN AND ABOUT THE FERMO AREA

Alpitour offers the following six excursions 'From the Adriatic Sea to the Monti Azzurri (Blue Mountains)' through places of great cultural interest and scenery of breathtaking beauty. The sights not to miss are those indicated between brackets. All are biking or motor biking excursions.

EXCURSION N.1 (Km 46):
'Terraces on the sea'
Santa Maria a Mare (Sanctuary), Caldarette d'Ete, Ponzano di Fermo (the Romanesque Church of St. Mark's), Montegiberto (Sanctuary of St. Mary Our Lady of Grace), Val d'Ete, Montottone (Our Lady of Graces Church, the Parish Church, the Church of St. Francis, the alleys, the potter's workshops), Monte Vidon Combatte, Petritoli (the Liberata Sanctuary), Monterubbiano-Moresco (the historical centre), Lapedona, Torre di Palme (the historical centre, St. Augustin's Church with its polyptych by V.Crivelli, the balcony with sea view), Santa Maria a Mare.

EXCURSION N.2 (Km 57):
'The footwear district'
Porto Sant'Elpidio, Faleriense, Rapagnano (St., John Baptist Parish Church dating to 1400, the Church of St. Tiburzio, St. Rosalia and St. Colomba), Monte San Pietrangeli (the Collegiate Church of St. Peter), Torre San Patrizio, Montegranaro, Sant'Elpidio a Mare (he Municipal Gallery, the Municipal Tower, the Perinsigne Collegiate, the Basilica of Mercy, the Church of St. Filippo Neri, the district headquarters), Possible detour to the sanctuary of Corva-Porto Sant'Elpidio.

EXCURSION N.3 (Km 65):
'The balconies on the Monti Azzurri (Blue Mountains)'
Servigliano (admire the singular urban structure of the town, the Church of St. Mary of the Plane, St. Mary's Gate , on the road to Amandola visit to the Abbey Sanctuary of St. Ruffino), Amandola (the Church of St. Mary at the foot of the Agello, the Sanctuary of the Blessed Anthony, the Cloister of St. Francis), Comunanza (the ancient hamlet), Montefalcone (a splendid balcony over the Sibillini Mountains, the Fossils Museum, the Green Hall, the Church of St. Peter's in Penne), possible detour to Smerillo km 3-Santa Vittoria in Materano (the Sanctuary of St. Victoria, the Farfense Chapel, the Church of St. Augustin), Montelparo (Church of St. Michael Archangel), Monteleone (the Hexagonal Tower, the Church of Mercy), Servigliano.

EXCURSION N.4 (Km 86):
'The ancient Hamlets'
P.S.Giorgio (the Fortress, the Theatre, the Castle district, the Neocatechumen Centre ), Marina di Altidona, Valdaso, Ortezzano, Monterinaldo (the ruins of a Roman-Greek temple)-Montelparo-Sant'Elpidio Morico (the Church of St. Elpidio with a triptych by V.Crivelli), Monsampietro Morico, Val d'Ete, P.S.Giorgio.

'On the gentle hills of the Falerio district'
Fermo (Piazza del Popolo, Town Art Gallery and library, Roman pools, the St. Francis Cathedral), Faleriense, Magliano di Tenna (the Parish Church of St. Gregory with a fresco by V.Pagani), Montegiorgio (monumental Church of St. Francis, the Alaleona theatre, the Museum of Rural Culture), Monte Vidon Corrado (the Licini Collection), possible detour km 6 to Montappone (the Hat Museum) and Massa Fermana (the Castle, the Town Art Gallery and the Parish Church of the Saints Laurence, Silvestre and Ruffin with a tablet by Carlo Crivelli), Falerone (Church of St. Fortunato with a tablet by V.Crivelli, Archaeological Museum, the Rural Church of St. Paolino), Falerone Planes (the Roman theatre), the Montegiorgio Planes (race-track), Grottazzolina, Fermo.

'The kingdom of Sibilla'
The Maglio Bridge on Valdaso, Force (the copperware workshops), Comunanza, Lago di Gerosa (Church of St. Giorgio all'Isola), Tofe (the Sanctuary of St. Mary of Casalicchio), possible detour to Foce km 5,6, Montemonaco, Montefortino (historical centre, town gallery), possible detour to the Ambro Sanctuary km 6 and the Infernaccio, Amandola, Comunanza, Ponte Maglio.
